Our Harrowing Voyage

We set off from Bloomington with the car loaded to capacity. The carnivorous plant and the pink plant rode beside me on the floorboard, and the cat was in her carrier on my lap.

First we got lost in some cornfields. Then in horse pastures. Then in cornfields again. Poppy got out of her carrier when we stopped, and we chased her around a feed store for a while before catching her and returning her to the car. In Kentucky, Poppy had a panic attack, and we had to make an emergency stop at a veterinary hospital. It took us ten hours to get to Nashville, Tennessee, where we spent the night.

The next day, we spent another ten hours stuck in traffic in Alabama. We put the cat carrier on the floor under my feet, and we wrapped a towel around it to keep it dark and soothing. We passed gorgeous scenery, but I was too preoccupied with the cat and my feet to take pictures.

We all made it safely to Florida, where we were greeted by the welcome sight of our new front door.
