On Saturday morning I was downtown looking up at the huge tree branches that you see everywhere. Another little thunderstorm had just ended, and the weather was perfect.

I thought it would be a good time to check out the Downtown Market.

It turned out to be more like an art fair than a farmer's market: paintings, wooden bowls, glass, and jewelry in little tents, with only a couple of booths selling produce. I did end up with a bag of my new favorite fruit, though --
scuppernongs, the quintessential grape of the south. They are so delicious and wonderful that they deserve a post of their own.
